Branches of high street chain Woolworths in South Devon are trading as normal while administrators put together a rescue package to save the 99-year-old company.

Yesterday, staff at branches in Torquay, Paignton, Teignmouth, Dawlish, Totnes and Dartmouth were told to stay tight-lipped about the demise of the company, which faces a pounds385million debt.
