WHILE appreciating what Devon Cricket Board chairman Jim Wood had to say about the money coming into grassroots cricket in the county through the Sky Television contract with the ECB, he simply cannot be allowed to dismiss the reasoning behind the Davis Report's recommendations that Test cricket should return to all of our screens via the BBC the way that he did (HE, January 5).

When England beat Australia to regain the Ashes here in 2005 the whole of the country seemed caught up in the action, with all five matches playing to full crowds on every single day, leaving thousands of disappointed fans outside listening to Test Match Special.
