Summary
I was in the doldrums again and needed a dose of home patch Paignton. So I put Winner Street behind me and strolled along Totnes Road. Then, in Merritt Road, I loitered with content between the tall, sandstone apartment blocks, built by Washington Singer, a member of the Oldway Mansion Singers that made a fortune out of their sewing machines.
The last of the showers had passed. Swallows were on the wing as I came down the rough lane between Merritt Road and Willicombe Road. A few ebullient old herring gulls flew low over the houses.
