When Summer and Autumn Meet

Summary


IT'S three weeks to the Autumn Equinox. But I still regard the Harvest Home Festival as a requiem for summer. And I always look forward to the sunset colours of October. I like to see the heavy dews lifting as mist. It softens the vision of rural landscapes, with stubble, plough, ripe fruit and flocking birds all elements of the autumn scenario.

Hopefully, there will be a spring-like nip in the air, conning birds into believing the breeding season is here again. If so, several species will sing away. And the robin's September song has sadness in it.
