TORBAY'S run in the Denny Plate came to an end on Saturday when they lost to Malvern Hills IBC by four shots. Played on a neutral green in Bristol, Torbay went down 76-72 in a match which was close all the way through.

Defeat on three of the four rinks cost Torbay a place in the quarter-finals, despite the final rink being won by 18 shots (28- 10) by Ken Melbourne, John Read, Andy Wickham, Alan Bowden. But on the other rinks, Torbay's Tony Powell, Ernie Knight, Dave Vinnicombe, Graham Warren lost 15-20; Vic Vasey, John Cherington, Phil Hackett, Derrick Singleton lost 19-23 and Tony Hodgin, Tim Lock, Rob Honeywell, Duncan Summers lost 10-23.
