IS IT me, or has anyone else noticed how friendly this gorgeous bout of summer weather has made folks? The beaming smiles and willingness to greet as you pass by. Even strangers seem to pop out of the woodwork. I was confronted by a friend who said for me to put on a smile, which I did -- and when I did she said: "Now that's a lot better." And do you know something? It was!

It is true that smiles and laughter can often create a feeling of goodwill and that all is right with the world, despite the constant grumbles about the mess we are in and so forth.
