I NOTICED our council decided to turn the lights in Rock Walk green for St Patrick's Day, and very nice they looked too.

Will then it show the lights in red and white for St George's Day on April 23, and all red for Merchant Navy Day on September 3 in recognition for the 35,000 Merchant Seamen who lost their lives in World War Two and subsequent conflicts? It never ceases to amaze me how we celebrate St Andrew's Day, Robbie Burn's Day and St Patrick's Day with balls and dances which I attend and enjoy.
