In 2006 the construction industry in England missed out on at least 12,000 recruits due to the shortage of vacancies offered by employers, according to figures recently released by ConstructionSkills.

Constructionskills is now calling on the industry to make sure that 2007 is the best year yet for employers offering apprenticeship placements. So far this year more than 900 young people from the South West and 25,000 in England as a whole have applied to ConstructionSkills hoping to gain a start in the industry.
