Sir - As a long-serving, and often a long-suffering, Torquay United supporter, I am sure many other Gulls fans will join me in thanking everyone at Plainmoor for the fantastic job they have done over the last year.

I think it's fair to say that we were all pretty much in the depths of despair 12 months ago. After a season of almost surreal activity both on and off the pitch, no longer worth dwelling on, we braced ourselves for the big drop. Yes, we had endured several great escapes over the years, but this time relegation from the Football League was inevitable.
