WHO really cares if another few acres of countryside are about to succumbed to that old harvest festival hymn as sung by developers: "We plough the fields and scatter the good concrete on the land..."

This tranquil and incredible area of coastal paths, fields and countryside stretches from Watcombe through to the ancient hamlet of Maidencombe then on through the RSPB reserve, past the Ness and then down into Shaldon.
