Summary
I don't like it when the wild character of a wood is sacrificed in favour of a country park policy which can get out of hand in terms of tidying up everything. I like Stover Country Park woodland, where a balance has been successful, thanks to environmentally- friendly management.
Fallen trees and discarded boughs are part of a self-managed scene. Okay, most woods are man-made. But a conservation strategy, of endlessly keeping things neat and tidy, is irritating and blinkered. It erodes the wild character of woodland.See the full content of this document
