TORQUAY UNITED manager Paul Buckle paid tribute to goalkeeper Scott Bevan after the Gulls, top of League Two with six points from their first two games, made new defensive history with Saturday's 2- 0 win at Lincoln City.
Another 'clean sheet' stretched United's record run to 14 hours 31 minutes without conceding a Football League goal. In the process, they became only the eighth club in League history to go nine or more games without a goal against. Ironically, it was a Bevan 'own- goal' in the 29th minute of a 2-1 win over Shrewsbury Town at Plainmoor in April that was the last effort to go in against United. Bevan had to share goalkeeping duties with Michael Poke and short- term signing Steve Collis because of injury at the end of last season. And he now has competition from summer signing Danny Potter for United's first-team spot.See the full content of this document
