DURING our journey on the 'Holland-Skandinavia' express on August 31, 1957, we had been hauled by electric locomotives through Holland, but by steam though northern West Germany.
The Dutch were the first to eliminate steam completely, and despite it being only 12 years after the end of the war, had virtually completed this task by the end of 1957.See the full content of this document
