FEARS have been fuelled of a 'fire sale' of Regional Development Agency assets in South Devon to bolster Treasury coffers rather than benefiting the area.

There are concerns the Government will try to sell off land and property and divert the proceeds to Whitehall after it warned there would be no "automatic presumption" they would be handed over to councils or new economic partnerships when the South West RDA is abolished - and identified "deficit reduction" as a factor in any decisions.
