A BUMPER crowd flocked to Haldon Hill on a sun-drenched afternoon for Exeter's Children's Day, with over 200 youngsters joining in the special competitions and activities. But, despite some good prize money on offer, there was a disappointing turnout of runners on the track with just 38 horses contesting the six races.

Eight went to post in the day's opening race, The Finlake Holiday Park Novices' Selling Hurdle, including Rhyton, who had made the 204 mile journey from Donald Mc-Cain's Cheshire yard.
