DR DAVID Bostwick gave an illustrated talk to Torbay Decorative and Fine Arts Society about Lady Anne Clifford: 1590-1676, whom he described as a 'proud northern lady'.

She lived most of her life in Craven and Westmoreland, where her affections lay, but the Cliffords at Ugbrooke House have a family connection and portraits of her, her father and her mother can be seen at Ugbrooke House, near Newton Abbot, often open to the public.
