AN accident victim who drank at least 10 pints of lager and a 'substantial amount of whisky' before he was struck down by a van and badly injured is claiming more than Pounds 1million in compensation.

Marc Preston, then aged 18, spent the afternoon of August 30 2002 bingeing on drink before the Transit van hit him as he crossed Bitton Park Road in Teignmouth.
