A MOTHER of five from Paignton dishonestly claimed more than Pounds 21,000 in benefits. Carole Bissington, 48, of Foxhole Road, said she was divorced in paperwork she filled out in 2001 to claim income support, council tax benefit and housing benefit.
But a joint investigation by the Department for Work and Pensions and Wiltshire County Council revealed that she had been living with her partner from about 2005, but had not notified either authority of a change in circumstance and, between December, 2005, and August, 2008, she claimed a total of Pounds 21,786 she was not entitled to. She was interviewed three times but denied having a partner and living in a common household, although she did admit to doing two weeks' work while claiming benefits.See the full content of this document
